“Bullshit Trainings, Self-Hatred and Divine Plans”; Yoga-Nurse Shares Her Story!

This post was revised from the archives-Enjoy!

Taking risks is part of living life to the fullest. If we don’t take risks we never really live our full potential. The internet has vastly increased our ability to be seen and heard. I decided to share this post from the archives, featuring a very special woman who’s been taking risks, long before the internet. May this inspire you in your own life and creative pursuits.

Annette Tersigni/Petra coverAnnette Tersigni, has quite a diverse background as a former Hollywood actor and Cover Girl, turned Nurse -Yogini.  She is the founder of Yoga Nursing™, an accredited brand of yoga therapy for Yoga Teachers and Medical Professionals.  Also an author and speaker, Annette is passionate about expanding consciousness in health care and transforming lives.

As a former Cover Girl, Annette was featured on the cover of Petra Fashion Magazine and The Modern Nightingale; Tributes and Lifestyles for Nurses.  In 1996, Annette received Certification by Dr. Deepak Chopra and Dr. David Simon, as an Ayurvedic Educator, and as she noted “before anyone knew what the heck Ayurveda was!”  It was after her training in ’96 she was inspired to become a nurse, which evolved into her trademark movement.

Q. Since your journey began, what are you most proud of that surprises you?

A.  It still surprises me that I became a yoga teacher at the age of 43…then I became a nurse at the age of 51!  I studied with Deepak Chopra and had a vision of combining yoga and nursing.  It struck me like a lighting bolt.  ”Voila– The YogaNurse and YogaNursing and a new movement in health care was born.”

Q.  What is the one pattern or belief you shifted that most help you in moving forward?

A.  I lived in a pain story of self-pity, self-hatred  guilt and fear.  My son was born with extreme autism and cerebral palsy.  I was sick and sad.  Yoga and personal development trainings transformed my pain body pattern into a body of love.

Q.  What is one thing you would tell new creative entrepreneurs, that you now wish someone would have told you when you first started?

A.  Yikes! I lost over $10,000 hard earned bucks working with the wrong people on my website and bull-shit trainings. When I started my website and YogaNurse business dream in 2006, there was no B-School.  New entrepreneurs must seek out excellent mentors with integrity and talent to guide them on the road to success.

Q.  As you gain success, how do you maintain the level of confidence needed with the greater expectations you may face?

A.  I have learned to read the sign posts.  When you are on the right career path, the road opens up for you, the universe encourages you with success.  On the other hand, if you are on the wrong path, the universe blocks you, puts big boulders in the road to deter you from proceeding and help you to rethink your direction.  Learn to read the signs, listen to your gut feelings, your intuition. It will save you a lot of time and money honey.

Q.  What is the single most important message you believe is essential in life, happiness and success?

A.  The  number one message is  ”you are simply dee-vine daring.”  When you get that you are made up of divine stuff”, you can make miracles happen. IF your career plan is in accordance with the divine plan for you and how you are to show up and serve in the world. “Remember, whatever it is you are looking for, it is also looking for you.”

Awesome post, Teresa. What a cool idea to profile these beautiful entrepreneurs. Let’s us all see and feel that we are the only ones getting in the way of what we truly desire.

Annette~ Earlier this year I set a conscious Intention to create collaborative projects. I had to allow time for the idea to germinate and when it came to me, it was clear and suddenly people like yourself were willing to join me. The beauty of this is everyone benefits. I sincerely appreciate your kind participation!
      With Joy~

Great post! Some wise words and love the fact that she was on the “older” side when she took on this journey. Gives me hope!
